Template Customization Instructions Page 4

Changing the Soundtrack

You can use any MP3 file that you have the rights to use as the soundtrack for your presentation. Simply replace the soundtrack.mp3 file in the assets/sound folder with your new file. You must rename your file as soundtrack.mp3 or it will not be uploaded at runtime. We recommend using loops that are no longer than one minute to keep the file size from becoming too large. Try to keep your soundtrack file size under 1 MB.

Adding PDF Files to Your Presentation

Place any PDF files that you wish to include on your disc in the assets/files folder. Make sure you have created links to your files in the content.xml file and that the file path and filenames are correct. Remember that business card CDs only hold 50 MB of data, so if you have quite a few PDF files, you may need to compress them using Acrobat Pro™ in order to keep your file size under 50 MB.

Burning your presentation on CDs or business card CDs

Once you've finished modifying your presentation, you may want to burn it onto CDs or business card CDs so that you can distribute it to others. Remember that business card CD-Rs will only hold 50 MB, so make sure that your total file size is under 50 MB before burning your disc.

Cross-Platform Mastering

If you are working on a Macintosh computer, you will be able to easily create cross-platform discs using a CD burning program such as Toast™. Insert a blank CD-R or business card CD-R into the CD recorder in the computer. Open Toast and make sure that you have the Data tab selected and select Mac & PC or Custom Hybrid from the Advanced tab. Drag all the presentation files and folders from your project folder into the Toast™ Add File area and press Record to record your disc. You should have the following files and folders in the Add File area prior to burning your disc:

  • autorun.inf
  • PC_Play.exe
  • Mac_Play
  • assets
    • files
    • images
    • slides
    • sound
    • swf

If you are working on a PC, You can create all your new files and images on your PC and then transfer them to a Mac to burn your discs. If you do not have access to a Macintosh computer you can take them along with the Mac_Play.hqx file, included in your download folder, to an internet café or library where you can probably find a suitable Macintosh computer to create a cross platform master disc. Once you have transferred all your files onto a Macintosh computer, double-click the Mac_Play.hqx file to unstuff with Stuffit Expander. Do not burn the compressed .hqx file on the CD. Use the uncompressed Mac_Play file as shown above. Follow the Mac instructions above to finish creating your disc.

We do not recommend trying to create a cross platform CD from a PC, however if you do have a Macintosh volume connected to your PC, you can do it with Nero Burning Rom™ if necessary.

You easily can burn discs containing your presentation from a PC, however these discs will not work on a Macintosh computer. Insert a blank CD-R or business card CD-R into the CD recorder in the computer. Open your CD burning program and drag the files and folders from your project folder into the Add File area. You should have the following files and folders prior to burning a PC-only disc:

  • autorun.inf
  • PC_Play.exe
  • assets
    • files
    • images
    • slides
    • sound
    • swf
